Cooling off

(Micah) “What are we going to do today? It's so hot!” Arlo said as he started to fan himself. His forehead had beads of sweat dripping down on it, making me chuckle at the sight. I could feel my armpits becoming damp as I tried to find a way to cool myself down by using the cover of a book I had to rip off earlier, as a fan. “Why did the air conditioner stop working right now? It's getting hotter and hotter these days.” I replied. I got up from my bed and started to pace, thinking that maybe I should just take my shirt off. But the last time I did that in front of everyone, Landon got possessive, and let's just say I now found myself second-guessing if I should do so. “Just a lot of bad luck. These fans aren't cutting it out for me. Let us go and sit under a tree, since we can't climb any.” I shivered when I remembered the trouble we got in for even contemplating climbing one. It was so stupid though because we are boys, and we should be out doing stuff like that. “Le gasp! Let's go.” I pulled Arlo along with me while hoping that no one would stop us. Once we got outside in peace, I breathed a sigh of relief and found the nearest tree as quickly as I could. Arlo chuckled at my gimmicks and sat down next to me. I took that as an advantage and leaned my head on his shoulder while he was running his hand through my hair. “I think I'm obsessed with your hair. It's so damn soft.” It made me laugh a little. He's always playing with my hair every chance he gets, so I know that it's true what he said. “Do you think that they will allow us to attend college, since we graduated already?” I asked, not knowing if we were getting that chance. Arlo's family pulled us out of high school when they disagreed with Jacob an out taking Arlo away. I don't even know if we were going to get that opportunity. “Under the watchful eyes of my family, yes. It's getting to me with them being so damn overprotective, and I can't stand being treated like a child anymore. It's getting tiring.” I can understand why he was saying that at first I was ok with them fussing over us but over time it got annoying. Now much more than before. Logan, for instance, had grown attached to me for some reason I can't seem to get rid of him. I've gotten in a lot of trouble when Landon caught us together most times, we weren't doing anything s****l because that's a line that we would never cross. But Landon is just a possessive asshole who doesn't like to see me with anyone. “Let's ask them and hear what they have to say. We should be making plans for college right now.” Arlo nodded his head, agreeing with me. I just hope that there won't be any problems because that's where I'll draw the line. ~~~~~~~~ Ok, so you probably noticed the word count is a bit smaller. I'm only doing this story for fun, so it's not going to be as long as my first story. I hope that's ok. Until next time…
