Troubled waters

(Landon) Micah's excitement was infectious as we made our way to the pool. I could hardly keep up with his energy, and honestly, I didn’t mind. He was happy about wearing the new swimwear I’d bought for him was kind of adorable. When we finally arrived at the pool, the bright sun and shimmering water greeted us. Micah wasted no time and dashed to the edge, doing a quick victory lap around the pool before diving in with a splash that sent water flying everywhere. I shook my head, chuckling, and took my time getting settled by the poolside, making sure to slather on some sunscreen. His playful antics were too entertaining to miss. He surfaced, beaming and waving at me, his head peeking out of the water like a seal. “Come on, Landon!” he called out. “The water’s perfect!” I tossed my shirt onto a lounger and joined him, sliding into the cool water. The initial chill was refreshing, and I quickly adjusted, finding myself enjoying the way he splashed around. He challenged me to races and tried to teach me some goofy underwater tricks. We played around, our laughter mingling with the sounds of splashing water. His energy was boundless, and I found myself laughing more than I had in a while. At one point, Micah floated on his back, looking up at the sky. “You know,” he said. “This is the most relaxed I've felt since coming here. There's no one bothering me, especially Logan and you're not even demanding that I should take it easy because I'm pregnant.” I floated next to him, the water supporting my weight effortlessly. “You're getting away with a lot of things, Micah; just be grateful. I am not that overbearing because we are immortals and you have a wolf that can heal you.” I replied. Micah laughed, splashing some water at me. We continued enjoying ourselves, the outside world feeling miles away. I was about to suggest we grab some snacks when a group of people walked into the pool area. They were loud, making a scene as they began to set up their things, but it wasn’t until they started glancing at us that I noticed something wasn’t right. One of the guys from the group, a tall guy with a sneer, walked over to the edge of the pool. “Hey, you two,” he called out. “Didn’t realize this place was a pride parade. What’s with the couple act?” Micah tensed up beside me, his smile fading. I could feel his discomfort and frustration, and I felt a surge of protectiveness. “Just enjoying our day,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm and steady. “Is there a problem?” The guy’s grin widened, clearly enjoying the tension. “Not a problem if you don’t mind being the center of unwanted attention.” Before I could respond, Micah shifted in the water, his eyes locked on the guy with a mix of defiance and unease. I wrapped an arm around his shoulders, giving him a reassuring squeeze. “Let’s just ignore him,” I said quietly to Micah. “We’re here to have fun, not get dragged into any of that.” Micah nodded, but the incident had taken some of the fun out of our day. The guy eventually walked away, but the mood had shifted. If it were like before, that guy would have been dead for opening his mouth. But, I was trying to change. To control my temper so that I wouldn't hurt Micah. I stayed close to my mate, making sure he felt supported, and we continued swimming, focusing on the good times we were having. But, we knew that we were still being watched. It seems as if these people had just arrived at the hotel, the others before didn't have any problems with us. “I don't like it here anymore, let's leave,” Micah said, pulling out of my arms and swimming off to the side of the pool. I sighed while shaking my head, wishing that I could do something to make it better. While we were gathering our things, the douce bag started to call us names I hadn't even heard before. So much for ruining our fun time. But I had something else in mind to get him to shut the f**k up. I turned to him and my eyes darkened as I allowed Shane to briefly take over. The i***t’s eyes widened in shock, his mouth hanging open like a gaping trap for flies. I wasn't going to allow anyone to ruin our stay here, I'll make sure of it.
