Chapter 25

1580 Words

The morning light broke through the trees, illuminating the remnants of last night’s chaos. I rose early, the weight of the previous night’s decisions weighing heavy on my shoulders. I moved quietly, making my way to the edge of the territory, where I could think without the noise of the pack buzzing in the background. As I gazed into the woods, the thoughts of Lila’s family and Jax’s betrayal churned in my mind. Remembering the bond I once shared with Jax, how we had fought side by side before everything fell apart. Jax's return brought back a flood of memories—some good, but most tainted by the darkness of betrayal. “Jason?” Lila's voice broke through my reverie. She stepped up beside me, her eyes searching my face for answers. “I’m here,” I replied, forcing a smile. “Just thinking.”
