The beast was huge, about thrice my size, and covered in brown furs with eyes that gleamed wickedly as it looked down at me from where I had raised my hand to block its attack. I was on the ground, struggling against its strength as it pinned me down, growling in my face. A groan cut through my lips as I managed to push back its weight only a few inches away then rolled over before it could attack again. I began to run, but I was no match for a beast. It had wolf traits, but then it wasn’t one. I didn’t know what it was. My werewolf senses were almost nonexistent, and I couldn’t reach Rae. It was as though she was gone.
