I sent Josh on an errand, and shopped alone. I picked all kinds of things. Clothes, bags, shoes. The kinds I’d never use. I had three bags full when I was done, and Josh returned with the things I had sent him to get. One was a necklace, and the other was a tiny ball. Both trackers. I put the ball in my pocket, and left the necklace with him. “Give it to Liah.” I whispered to him, noticing the few people also pretending to shop around but were throwing glances our way. “Make sure she wears it at all times. I’m going to lure them somewhere, and you take Liah far away. Do not receive any calls unless a particular one calls seven times. And do not change your number.
