I watched as this Alpha bear lay naked on the ground, his body curled in the fetal position as he sobbed, heart-wrenching tears falling to the ground. I had never seen such raw pain and it tore at my soul. I knew in that moment that I would protect Hope. I never wanted to experience the pain he was, as selfish as that sounded.
We waited for what felt like hours before he uncurled his stiff body and looked at us. "Lets get you out of here." He spoke gruffly, standing up and pulling on his clothes. We all silently agreed as he tore open the bars and ripped off the chains, then we followed him out of the room. Hope, being carried in Regan's arms as the sunlight filtered onto her face.
