Boaz was getting restless. Tina was delaying their plan and Stacy was breathing on his neck. He was nothing without her. They fell in love when he needed someone to be there for him. He had no family of his own, nothing of his own. Boaz even once contemplated suicide but she held him close. Now leadership of among the richest and most powerful packs in old fort. A pack that was recuperating from a war. Divided and fighting with each other. He needed to lead them. Bring them together again. But first Stacy had told him that was not going to be possible with their neighbors in an alpha females reign. She needed to be taken care of first before he concentrated on the cracks of his own pack.
"She's up to something I heard the other night she had visitors from Green view", Stacy said pouring him a glass of champagne.
"They're probably lawyers, everyone wants her dead”, Boaz said.
"Let’s give her today then you have to man up and get this over with. Get this fools on the same page", she said.
"I know", He said staring at the pack relaxing around the swimming pool.
He felt bad for them but it was for their good. If they wanted to continue enjoying the peace, the water in the pool and the girls, good food and the entire fortune of their pack he had to eliminate their biggest threat. A woman with power. She was a threat. And the first step was to incapacitate her financially. Then the werewolves would start to complain about her. Turn against her rule then at her weakest moment he was going to slit her throat and make them his slaves. For Boaz it was a favor. She didn't have a reason to live anyway. Her entire family was dead. If she really missed them as she looked then she was supposed to make it easier for him. Die without fighting.
Despite their worries. That evening however, Tina paid them a visit. She had the papers with her and a guard they were familiar with. Ian was a familiar face especially when it came to running their businesses and periodic meeting here and there.
"You took your time", Boaz said.
"You know, our biggest partners and great neighbors wanting a break up is not an easy feat", She teased waking right in.
To return a favor he ordered them food. Lots of them. Delicious so that they could eat to their feel and enjoy their last visit. Stacy was with him the whole time by his side like an obedient Luna. Poor Boaz. With jezebel he felt untouchable he didn't know that experience also mattered. Tina was a step ahead. In fact he made it easier for her by setting up a feast for her. Meshack wasn't hard to convince. He rallied some of his loyal rebellion members to back up Steve and his men. As they sat there enjoying the feast. Soft pop music playing from the counsel Steve was setting up a surprise attack. He was good at it after dethroning his former alpha. They were waiting for the signed papers while waiting for a signal.
"You know I had to do it", Boaz said confidently.
"Do what?" Tina asked.
"Break the ties, my pack thinks you sacrificed our alpha. Of course it's ridiculous but as a leader you know... You have to be democratic about it", He explained.
"Fully, but if there’s anything you need that we can provide be our guest. Our support is not bound to trade deals", She said.
He was about to believe her. Anyone would have bought the sympathy in her voice and genuiness of her words. She was not trying to talk them out of the decision. Before he could answer her back it went all dark. The light from the candles was the only source of light.
"There’s a backup generator, don't worry" Boaz assured.
"How long will it take, am afraid of the dark" Tina complained.
"It's not that dark anyway. Let me have a word with the guards", Stacy said walking on her way out.
It was the signal for Tina and Ian. A setback for Boaz and a bad day for all of them. When she opened the door she found their guards dead. Before she could scream out for help Steve wearing a conspicuous gas mask ripped out her throat and then the whole house was filled with smoke. They could be heard coughing their lungs out as a mixture of silver ash garlic and wolf bane went right in their lungs making it hard for them to breath. Then Steve and his men came in. Meshack and the others were keeping an eye, they didn't know that in there plan Steve had a little plan of his. Passed out, they were tied them all in heavy chains. The collar around their necks. Oliver dragged the three of them outside. Then the power came back on.
They were all assembled in front of the pack house. Meshack was not surprised. Tina had it coming. As a matter of fact he saw an opportunity to rule the pack. With her and Ian gone there was no body to stop them. So he told them not to interrupt.
"Wolves of old fort, my name is Steve. Am sorry for ruining your expensive evening but this is important. Don't cause any trouble or... “He said staring at Stacy's lifeless body at the door, "Good. Ladies and gentlemen I want to let you know that I save all of you today. Your packs future, and children and more so your freedom. Tell them oli"
"Your alpha wanted to break trade relations with Tina and Tina wanted us to help her kill him and take over this pack", Oliver said.
Boaz’s pack members started murmuring. First in low tone then high pitched voices turning the murmurs into noise. The pack house looked like a military ground. Steve’s angry wolves were keen preventing any mischief. And Meshack was also doing his job well. He kept quiet. His guess on Steve. He wanted Steve to notice him. And he did but in a wrong way.
"Why should you believe you? And why is our alpha passed out and tied?" One man asked.
"Because he wanted to kill Tina and she is my friend" Steve said changing the flow of the story.
Gasps could be heard everywhere. It was game of power between the two alphas but Steve beat all of them to it.
"What do you want?" Meshack got his voice after realizing a game was in action.
"Nothing to do with you", Steve said and grabbed Boaz’s body.
They all stared keenly. The smarts one had an idea. Steve’s iris glowed orange, his sharp saw like carnassial teeth protruded. Veins around his eyes with a black wolf pellet covering his face. He looked at them and ripped of the collar from his neck, freed him from the chains. Boaz was regaining some consciousness. It was a fight he wanted and a fair one. Boaz growled looking around. His pack members were standing there as he got humiliated. In front of him a werewolf he had never seen before.
"Am giving you a Chance to leave with your head still connected to your body" He threatened.
"Make me leave", Steve said with disdain on his wolf face.
Boaz morphed into a huge brown pelt wolf with some black fur under his neck. His iris glowed yellow. He was no alpha. He was learning to be one. There was no transfer of power from Damian when he died in the hands of the hybrid. Steve did the same. The two big calf sized wolves clawed the hell out of each other growling at the top of their voices. Boaz's wolf rolled Steve's on the ground biting him as he screamed he screamed in pain. Boaz grabbed him with his mouth and tossed him through the crowd. They paced way for him. Both their bodies were soiled, it was hard to tell them apart. Steve got up growled and scratched the ground with his paw then charged toward him. Boaz charged too. They let halfway both of them screaming in agony. It was a draw. Maybe Steve underestimated him.
"Come here you son of a b***h", Tina said to Steve's wolf.
It was looking at her breathing heavily. Steve used the time out to walk towards Tina. She seethed with rage Ian lying by her side still passed out. Steve growled threatening to bite her. Tina was startled. And Boaz used the distraction to his advantage and grabbed his back leg. It was the beginning of the end. Steve couldn't free his leg from the jaw as the grip send excruciating pain on his leg. Boaz dragged him backwards as every attempt to fight back failed. Everyone knew the rules of the fight. Only one of them was to survive and there was no interruption. It was an alphas fight. Only the leaders competed. And they also knew the last but most worrying rule. The winner was the Alpha. No matter who won. Steve broke free for a minute limping away from harm’s way but Boaz grabbed the other leg. It was a wise strategy to secure his park. Even though Healing was faster in wolf form than human. He was trusting his instincts. Steve growled unable to turn around and free himself. When he finally did he had a weakness but he wasn't giving up. He morphed back into human when Boaz pounced to bite his throat he countered with a sleeper. Boaz’s wolf between his powerful legs, his muscular arms around his neck. They rolled. In the on the muddy ground. Gravel and twigs poking holes into Steve's skin but still he didn't let go.
