Erik had spent his military career as a ground-pounder, not as a member of the Fleet, but that didn’t mean he was ignorant about Fleet tactics and its general order of battle. All officers needed to understand the big picture so they could better coordinate with other forces. That, combined with his experiences aboard the Argo and the jumpship, reinforced a fundamental understanding about what to pay attention to during battle.
