The moment Sienna mentioned something about shortening lifespan, the whole world began to drum in my ears, I could hear my heartbeat so loud in my ears. Something inside my chest quietly split down the middle.
Matteo looked horrified and Callie just seemed to grow paler and paler by the second. She was whimpering, barely hanging onto consciousness, and every breath she took sounded like she was swallowing fire.
And I knew…. I knew before I even opened my mouth that there wasn’t another choice.
“Channel me,” I said immediately without giving myself enough time to think about it. Because there was nothing to think about. As long as it involves Callie, I'd do anything.
