(IZARA POV)
The meeting was dispersed.
Everyone was speechless at what they witnessed. Most of the board members stayed behind, throwing their daggering stares at me.
I just ignored them and walked to the chairman.
I have seen worse daggers back home. These people are nothing compared to those venoms.
“Ahh Izabella” the chairman smiled and gave me a handshake. “I have read your profile yesterday and I should say your work is outstanding. You even conquered the mighty Victor” he praised.
Just as I was going to reply, the cinnamon scent got stronger as a man stopped behind me.
“Dad” my mate acknowledged before looking at me. “Izzy”
“Izzy?” the chairman asked amused.
“It's short for Izabella. Easier to call” Archer replied as the father looked at him with suspicion.
“I didnt know you were the one with words”
“You never know” his son shrugged.
“Mr. Chairman, Mr. CEO. Sir” a voice came grabbing all our attention.
It was Mr Hang. I could see from far how Mr Wilton and Ashley were eagerly looking over here.
“I think there is some mistake”
“What mistake?” the chairman asked as the latter nervously cleared his throat.
“Well, you see, Sir… um, Chairman. There seemed to be a mix up in the names of the secretary. I-”
“Wait what is your name?” Archer interrupted Mr Hang midway.
“Ah, it's Timothy Hang, sir. I am the secondary general manager,” he said before giving him a file. “Um as I told earlier, I think there has been a mixup in the name of the secretary”
“Oh yes, I found that out. I was going to personally see you after the meeting but I guess it was a genuine mistake considering you came to see me right now.”
“A mistake?” Chairman asked as his son shook his head.
“Yes. As Mr Hang mentioned, the names have been mixed up. I was initially told that Miss Ashley was the one who aced all work including the collaboration with Mr Victor but I later came to know it was this woman over here” he said gesturing me with a smirk. “The real woman behind the talent”
A blush formed on my face. The way he was looking made me feel satisfied. He looked proud.
Archer walked to Mr Hang and bent to his level before muttering something. Normally, a human wouldn't be able to hear it but I heard it clearly.
“You should be on your knees thanking me for not firing your ass”
Mr Hang’s face darkened, his body shivering in fear.
Archer straightened his jacket before turning to me. “Mr. Carson will help you shift your table to the Presidential office, today”
“Ah, Yes. Thank you, sir” I replied as he grinned.
He walked past me but only to stop in his tracks momentarily. “Can't wait to see your talents”
I stared at his back as he walked out of the conference hall with his father. From behind I could see how similar they are in statues.
“He got his dad’s gene alright” I muttered turning around but only to face a very angry looking Ashley and her dad.
“What the hell did you do!” She shouted grabbing my hand.
I growled lowly, a sound deaf to the human ears. I pulled my hand from his grip and crossed my arms over my chest.
“I did nothing. You and your father were the ones who acted shady, taking my work and putting it under your name. You have no shame.”
“Mind your words. Don't think you can step over the line just because you got to be the CEO’s secretary and don't think you can stay in the position by the end of the day. I am the board member and it won't take me long to turn you jobless”
“Sir” I smiled at the man in front of me. “Please do what you can” I replied as he glared at me. But I just ignored him and turned around. I also know what power you have in this company and I can get easily fired or replaced but I won't allow that because I have a leverage.
Walking out of the room, I took out my phone.
“Izzy” a calm voice came from the other side.
“Hey, Victor. Are you free? Can we talk”
A hum came from the other side of the phone before I heard a few shuffles. “I am free” he replied after a few seconds.
“How are you?” I asked as he chuckled.
“How am I? How are you? I wanted to call you yesterday but I didnt get time. What happened to the meeting we planned? A crazy woman was sent instead of you”
“Ah yes. About that”
I filled him on the details and when I was finished he laughed.
“So you got your worthy position?”
“As of now, yes”
“The problem is that woman. Her father will most probably move a bill to fire me from the position and if that happens will you take my side”
“Why are you even asking, Izzy? You are a Valerian just like me and on top of that you are my friend. Of course, I will reject the position the moment they plan to fire you”
A smile formed on my face.
Victor was initially a problem file Mr Hang handed me knowing I would be rejected for collaboration. But to my shock, he was a Valerian who moved to the human territory when he was 7 years old.
Being the same kind, we instantly clicked and after a few meetings, he agreed to collaborate with us. The company gained a great asset because of me and only me.
Walking back to my table, I was greeted by a crowd congratulating me on my promotion. I even received flowers from each department head on behalf of their workers.
They praised me and told me how I deserved the position although I have heard most of them say the same dialogue to Ashley yesterday.
The last to congratulate me was Alice and Ethan. My true well wishers and friends.
“You did it!” Alice screamed a little too loud hugging me tight. “I am so proud”
“Thank you so much”
Ethan congratulated me as well, but he was interrupted when Alice grabbed my hand, continuing to praise me. Ethan didnt interrupt her, but just kept on watching get over excited.
I have noticed it a few times but Ethan really likes her. I find it adorable. The hyper girl’s introverted boyfriend.
Someone cleared their throat as we turned around.
“I know I am interrupting your moment but I figured this wouldn't end” It was Carson.
“Oh! Sorry sir!” Alice jumped before moving to the side.
Carson winked at Alice who blushed.
Oh. I looked from Alice to Carson and then to Ethan. His face turned dark.
Did I just witness a jealous moment?
“We should pack and get ready to shift,” Carson said as I nodded my head. I had told Carson, I would take care of the packing but insisted on staying and helping. Alice and Ethan also decided to stay.
Carson was an extrovert and clearly didnt hold back from flirting with Alice which made Ethan’s mood worsen. Poor Alice was oblivious to what was happening around her.
In an hour, my things were packed. Carson guided the other side of the building which led to the VIP elevator. The normal elevator was luxurious with a view of the building gardens but that was nothing compared to this elevator.
Wood panels, gold hand rest, and even a f*****g painting.
“You will be using this elevator from now on. It will lead directly to the presidential office.” he walked me through the structure of the floor, showing me each room and its purposes. When we finally finished he handed me a new ID card which will have the card access to all the rooms.
“And this is your room,” he said as he opened a glass room. It was clearly big, prepared with the necessary amenities and shelves.
“I get a Window view?” I asked shocked making him chuckle.
“We all do?”
“Wow”
I placed my hand on the window glass and looked outside. The landscape view is really amazing.
Suddenly a sound snapped my head to the left side of the room.
“And that room is the CEO's room”
My eyes widened as the wooden blocks started to lift revealing only a glass wall.
“What the hell?” I looked at Carson who rubbed his forehead and shook his head. “Ah right. We installed a shutter curtain in the room.”
“Why?”
“Because I want to make sure you work,” Archer said as he sat on his mighty seat, looking satisfied by the shutter.
“I am sorry, sir but don't you have the CCTV for the purpose?”Ii pointed at the CCTV in the corner making him shrug.
“This gives a clearer view” was his reply before turning around, continuing to work on his file.
I looked at Carson who sighed.
“If it makes you comfortable, the glass windows don't move”
How great, I have an office with a mate view.
