Alina sprinted toward the stage. “I’m sticking to the Prime Minister. You do what you do best. Kill the Core.”
The colonel drew his pistol and hurried after her. “Be careful, Erik. Whatever else happens here, this is their attack, not their defense. Remember that.”
Erik nodded and sprinted toward the cargo flitter, Jia right beside him.
“What did he mean by that?” she asked.
“I can’t die today,” Erik explained. “Because if I die today, I’ll be dead before the Core is finished. I’m fighting for both of us and his son.”
