Marilyn showed up at the theatre fifteen minutes ahead of the time she was told to be there. It looked like everyone else had as well. She wandered up and down the line looking for Deanna. The other girl didn't show until just before the time given.
"The old coot is still hanging in," Deanna whispered to Marilyn. "He'll get to see you on TV."
"Thanks, Deanna. I'm sorry I didn't get over there more to see you."
"You have school and stuff. I get it."
"Listen up people." A woman with a megaphone walked out the door and got their attention. "We have a few set pieces with the celebrity judges arriving. No big deal, just look enthusiastic. After that we will get you to come in and pick up your packages at the registration table. There will be dressing rooms to change into your costume
