Francesca didn’t have a chance to respond to her brother before Jonas shot her a warning glance and sent a single word that he hoped only she would pick up on. ‘Don’t’ She felt a flash of frustration at the warning, but she knew exactly why he had felt a need for it; she could easily have been critical of her brother, or told him that she couldn’t trust how he would react when he was emotionally invested in something. All he had asked was that they treat him as an adult, and she could see that now was not the time to be dismissive of that.
