I'm home on time.
The guests are not here yet. Alicia is nowhere to be seen while Daniel is helping Mom in the kitchen.
I pop my head inside where they're busy preparing dinner.
"Hey," I call out, and they both turn to smile at me.
"How was your day?" Mom asks.
"Awesome."
"And your evening?" She gives me a pointed look.
"Even more awesome! Who knew driving around the suburbs would be my idea of fun?"
"Driving around the suburbs?" Daniel asks rhetorically, and I shrug.
"Ethan and I just went for a ride and stopped for ice cream."
"Ethan?" He raises an eyebrow. "Is everything okay with Kain?"
"I, um, have to go upstairs. I need to shower and change and..you know.."
Mom shakes her head
"Just go, Bella."
