The drive to Dad's takes two hours. Earlier when I asked him about my plane ticket, he laughed it off and said I didn't need to catch any flight; that I could just drive over. Apparently, he moved his family to this state just days ago. He claimed that he wanted to be close to me; that he needed me and Christian to see each other more often, but he couldn't tell me sooner because he wanted it to be a surprise. So here I am, seated in my car, staring at the house across the street in disbelief. I kept getting more alarmed the deeper I drove into the suburbs but the house is the final red flag for me.
