Rae
I grab the door knob and pull. Luckily, the door opens.
I sigh, feeling relieved.
My heart is beating fast though.
My friends are on the other side, looking spooked.
My flashlight pointed at them allows me to see their wide, scared eyes.
Nothing like this has ever happened.
I am creep3d the f*ck out, but this doesn't stop anything.
"I think it was the wind" I say.
"Wind, Rae, we are inside. The windows and doors are all boarded up. We are locked up here. There is no wind inside," Cori says.
"The chat is going crazy," Camera man says.
"Let's keep going," I say.
"No, let's go home," Cori is nearly in tears.
"Just go wait for us outside," I tell her.
"H3ll no. I am not going to be left alone. That is just asking to be murdered first," she says.
"This isn't a horror film Cori. Nothing is going to happen to you," I try to comfort her.
"Ghosts and demons can take over your spirit Rae." she whisper yells.
I roll my eyes. This girl.
"Cori, the chat wants you to go down the hall first," he tells his sister.
"No. I am not moving away from you," she tells him.
"Oh, come on, follow me," I say.
We walk down the hall and get inside another room and as soon as we step inside, something feels off.
"The energy feels heavy in here," Camera man says.
"Not just the energy," I say.
I hold my finger up to my lips to tell them to be quiet.
I almost miss it, but I swear I heard someone else breathing.
It's so light, but it is there.
I flash my light around the room until I spot a pair of eyes inside the restroom in this room.
"Point the camera that way. I am not sure if I am tripping or there's someone there. Chat let us know if you see anything," I say into my mic.
All of a sudden, someone screams and jumps out at us.
We all scream.
"Run," I shout.
I push Cori, because she gets stuck staring at whatever is currently trying to attack us.
"Go, go," I say.
I can hear things crashing behind us as we take off, looking for the door.
"What way?" Cori shouts.
"What way did we come?" Camera man shouts.
"To the right, down hallway, then turn left, and down the stairs," I quickly instruct them.
Thank you, James Thomas for teaching me to always be vigilant and to memorize everything about a new place.
We run down the stairs and straight to the door.
I hear someone still stomping around upstairs, but luckily I don't hear them run down behind us.
Cori gets out the door first. Even with her leg getting stuck on a plank, Camera man makes sure she gets out without getting hurt.
"Wait, ask the chat if we should go up there and see what that was?" I ask my camera man.
"Rae, I will act like you didn't just say that. F*ck this, I am out," he says and also steps out.
I take one look back and flash my light one last time.
Maybe I should have brought Tommy instead.
I see a black figure at the top of the stairs.
"Yeah, F*ck this," I hurry and nearly jump out of there.
Once we get outside, and next to our car, we collapse.
"That was the scariest investigation we have ever done," Cori says.
It takes us a moment to recover.
"The chat is saying they think it was just a homeless person and that we should go back," Camera man tells me.
"Put a poll. Should we go back inside, or would you all rather have us go and do a midnight breakfast run? We can eat and chat." I ask the people watching us live.
We wait a couple of minutes.
"You are going to be surprised at what was chosen," he says.
"I don't think I can go back inside. I peed myself. I was so scared," Cori tells us, and sure enough, her pants are all wet.
"Food and chat wins," Camera man says.
Thank goodness.
There really was something haunted going on here.
We decide to head to this burger shack that has the best burgers and shakes besides Tilly's, and grab our food and head back to the warehouse and, from there, we will see what we get into.
Cori gets in the middle seat, camera man in the driver seat, and I get in the passenger seat.
They both discuss what just happened while I set up the tripod so we can continue the live stream.
We head out and begin driving towards the restaurant.
I can already taste the milkshake.
Hopefully that will help these nerves.
"I can't wait to go back and watch that footage.
I want to know if we caught who those eyes belong to," I say, feeling a bit shaken.
In all of our haunted encounters, I have only ever felt a small tap on my shoulder, and I still am convinced it was Cori or Camera man, even though they both deny it.
The road is deserted.
It is pitch black and the silence is a bit unsettling.
Really no lights or other cars on the road.
It is spooky.
"Chat, look at the road we have to take right now.
Maybe we should have stayed until the morning.
What are we going to tell the man when he returns, and we are no longer there?" I ask.
"I will email him once we arrive," camera man tells me.
I flip the camera, so our chat can see how scary and dark it is outside.
I am bored, so I decide to check my home cameras, then my parents' home cameras, just because you can never be too safe.
"Is that a car on fire?" Cori asks, pointing ahead of us.
A truck flies by us, and Camera man drives over to the other car.
Something clicks inside of me, and I jump on the car before he can even stop it.
"Rae, no," Cori shouts, but I am a volunteer firefighter.
My dad, brother, grandpa, uncles are all fire fighters.
I know a thing or two about fires.
I can help.
I jump into action.
"Watch Rae be a hero chat," I hear my camera man say.
"There's a man stuck inside. Help me before his car explodes," I shout.
They both help me. We rip his seat belt and pull him out.
Cori hurries and calls emergency services.
Luckily, he is talking to me and doesn't seem to hurt, but I know it can always be different inside, and that is why he needs to be checked out as soon as possible.
"Are you an angel?" he asks me.
I shake my head.
"No, I'm Baker Rae, what's your name?" I ask him, trying to keep him awake and speaking.
"I am Ranger. Thank you, Angel. I thought that was it for me. I thought I was going to die. That truck slammed into me, and took off," he grabs my hand and squeezes.
I don't like people touching me, but I think I will let this one slide as he is probably unsettled after the crash.
Emergency services take about 15 minutes to show up.
"Please don't leave me alone. You make me feel so safe," he tells me as they ask a bunch of questions.
Somehow, I am whisked into the ambulance with him, and my friends follow behind to make sure I have a way back.
My camera man gives me the tripod, so I am able to stay live the whole time with my fans. After all, they are here because they want to watch me.
We arrive at the hospital, and he is taken in through emergency. The whole time he wants me to stay, until they tell him they have to get urine and other samples from him. Before I walk out though, he asks me if he can use my phone to call his family as he lost his phone in the accident. I allow him to. I step out so he can have his privacy, and eventually, a nurse returns my phone and tells me he is getting a scan and giving his samples, and that his family will be here soon. I take that as my cue to go. I can return tomorrow or send flowers.
"Let's go guys," I say as I walk out to the emergency waiting room where my friends are waiting for me.
We get out to the parking lot.
"What time is it?" I ask.
When we arrived, it was still dark, and now it is daylight.
"It's 8:26am," Cori yawns.
"Let's stop by Sunshine's for breakfast, then we can go home and sleep," I say.
"No, just drop me off. Going to Sunshine's means working and no sleep. I'm done for the day," Cori whines.
"But, the day just started," I joke.
"Rae, you know how I get when I don't sleep," she says, and I chuckle.
"Alright, no worries. Let's go drop you guys and this truck off.
I can grab my car.
I have other important things to do anyway!" I say.
