Chapter 8

2115 Words
Rae My cousins and I spend the rest of our time here doing different activities. I need to stay busy to keep my mind off what happened. Off him. Off what happens next. Will anything happen? Or is that it again? Will it be years until I see him again? What was he even doing here? Why don't I ever get closure? I don't even remember if he gave me any details about himself. Why did I drink? Ugh! This is why I have to stay busy. My mind just goes overboard. Then I crash out. I won't this time. We stop by a restaurant on the beach to have lunch. There is a group of older women here. Women our mother's ages. They are celebrating one of them recently getting divorced. They invite us to their divorce party, and things get wild. I stream it all, and people even donate money for us to take shots. Then it goes to body shots off each other. I take one shot and get instant flashbacks. It tastes so gross, and I want to puke it back up, so I decide to be one and done, because I clearly can't handle my liquor. I get too wild and make bad choices. "I have such a good idea, let's get out of here and continue the party. We can join both parties and keep it going. The night is still young," The newly divorced woman tells us. Joint b@chelorette and divorce parties. How bad can it get? I decide to book a yacht, because why the f*ck not? I want to spend the last night here having a good time. When I say things went 0-100 real quick. We started off light, with face masks and mimosas inside. I am trying to sober them up a bit. If that is even possible at this point. I should have known, by the way most of them were acting, that it was going to get wild. "Bartender, more drinks," one lady shouts. With how drunk they are, I doubt they will notice a round of water shots. I prep a quick snack of crackers, deli meats and cheese with fruit on a pretty platter they have here, and I pour a round of water shots and I bring it back. "To all you pretty ladies. My ex-husband cheated on me with my younger sister, and he got her pregnant. It was so hard for me. The betrayal is a pain I do not wish on anyone. Now that our divorce is final, I received an invitation in the mail. Those two snakes are getting married. I have been getting calls from family and friends who know us both who want me to forgive for the sake of family, and I just can't do it. I hope you all have better luck than I did and find true love," the more this lady speaks, the more I resonate with her. In my case, yeah, maybe it wasn't my sister because I don't have one, but my cousin slept with my boyfriend. Still hurt like cr@p because I treat all of my cousins like my siblings. I think what made it worse was the fact that I caught them in bed together. Not even just them, but in a whole a$$ 3 sum with Stephanie. I agree with this woman that the betrayal is really painful. Out of all people, my own cousin and someone I considered a best friend at some point. People are shady. Betayal like this makes trusting anyone that much harder. I second guess every person and their intentions now. I regret the moment I gave Lincoln Jr. a chance. "Men ain't sh!t," Paris laughs and asks for more drinks. She isn't wrong. "You all go outside, and I will come out there with the drinks," I say. Some fresh air will do them good. I decide they need to sober up, so I make some alcohol-free margaritas with some electrolytes to hopefully help them. I talk with my camera@n on my live stream as I make the drinks, then we head back out with everyone else. I walk out and nearly drop the tray of drinks. "Point the camera at the water," I say, because my cousin Paris, who is the wild one in the family is topless and one of the older women is motor boating her b00bs. What the f*ck. I laugh and make my way over there. We have a blast having girl time. Everyone confesses what the craziest place they have had s3x is. Mines is pretty boring. "In the woods," I say. Cooper and I basically lived out in the trees. He loved being out there. He always said he felt safe and calm there. That's why he always said he wanted to name his firstborn forest. I am used to weird names in the family, so when I found out I was pregnant with a boy, I knew I would name him that. "That's actually quite hot. Imagine a killer watching you getting f*cked in the woods and him jerking off to it, before k1lling you," Paris says, and we all look at her. She shrugs. The night continues and they continue drinking. I try to interview as many of the older women as I can. I try to ask about their jobs and lives, and if there is any advice they would give younger couples starting a relationship. They give great advice, and some that I don't think is so great. Once they start trying to fall asleep, that is when I know it is time to go. We have to hop on the plane soon anyway. It isn't until we get to the dock and are unloading that one of the women is so drunk that she stumbles, her leg twists awkwardly, we hear the crack before she falls into the water head first. Oh my goodness! That was wild, disgusting and disturbing to witness, and it was all caught live on my stream. H3ll yes! "Omg," everyone starts rambling, and the older women begin trying to jump in to help their friend. "Everyone stop moving," I shout and pull the lady out before she drowns. Luckily, while we wait for emergency services, they all sober up and her friends end up riding with her to the hospital. We wave goodbye and go our own way. We arrive at the airport and board the plane to go back home. I miss my parents and my dog so much. I can't wait to bring Forest flowers and toys to his tombstone. I do hate leaving him alone for so many days. Luckily, he was buried in my parents' backyard, so he is never alone. Mom and dad go sit with him every day. More on my traveling days. Ugh, I am so ready for a cupcake or a slice of cake. I end up sleeping the whole plane ride and when we arrive, and are offloading, I notice how fast the wind picks up. Like a lot. Even with the airport lights, it's a dark night. Feels creepy, but I think it is all in my head. Especially, because we arrive in the middle of the night. My cousins and friends get in 1 truck so they can go home, but Cori, camera@man and I load up into a different truck. We have some filming to do. A haunted mission we have been planning. I love our haunted live videos. While we were on vacation, camera@man received an email from an abandoned hospital an hour away that said we could go tour it tonight, so we have to do it for the fans. We arrive, and it looks scary a$$ f*ck. Everything, especially the night. We feel the strong a$$ wind moving the car. We get off and it's worse out here. "I am scared," Cori says, but I ignore her. The windows and doors are all boarded up. We look around, but we don't see the man who the emails were exchanged with. "He said he would meet us here to let us in, then return in the morning." Camer@man tells us. "We are staying here alone?" Cori shrieks. "Shhh. I'm already scared enough," I tell her. "I thought you weren't scared of anything," Cori whisper shouts. "I'm not, now shhh. Let me check out the vibe," I say. We hear some noise and all scream when we see a shadow in the distance. We breathe easier when we realize it's the man we are supposed to be meeting. Camer@man and I have been planning for this for some time now. We made sure my parents packed up 3 backpacks with everything we needed and sent them to us in the truck. I open mine and see the flashlight, all the extra batteries and battery packs. I have extra cameras, extra mics. We have extra phones. There's water, snacks, a pocket knife, pepper spray, and CHARLIE with a note from dad. "In case you need to protect yourself from a ghost. You know I hate you doing this. You never know what you will find in an abandoned place, so use this for protection, if needed. See you tomorrow. I love you, dad," the note says. Great, I do feel more protected with dad's gun, but it's not like I can shoot a ghost. Regardless, I have the best daddy in the world. The man finally gets to us, and he introduces himself as Eddie. "Alright, follow me. This is the only open door," he points at a door that looks half-way boarded up. "Alright folks, so this is the only way in and out." he tells us a little history of the place and reminds us that there has been a lot of activity reported here and to be careful and that he will be back as soon as the sun comes up to lock the place up after us. Lock the place up? It's just a half-boarded door that he never even unlocked. Whatever. We thank him and make our way inside. Before we do anything else, we make sure to ask our chat if they can hear us and see us. Once we get the thumbs up, we decide to begin on the first floor. We walk from room to room. On the first floor, nothing crazy happens. It is quiet, and all you can hear is the echo of our voices. "Check the battery on your devices. They say ghosts can drain it," Camera man tells us. Only Cori has to change her flashlight's batteries. "These are brand-new batteries, so hopefully you stop glitching," I tell her. We were about to walk up the stairs when we heard what sounded like footsteps coming from up there. Camera man flashes his flashlight up. "Hello, is anyone there?" he asks. "I'm so f*king scared," Cori says. "Rae, the chat wants you to go up first," Camera man tells me. Great! "F*ck my life, huh" I joke. He just shrugs. "Ugh, fine! Mom, dad if you are watching this. Thank you for giving me the courage to not be a little b!tch," I say, trying to pump myself up. I slowly walk up the stairs. Each one creeks loudly. Cori is holding onto my arm tightly, like so tight she is nearly cutting off circulation. "Cori I am going to end up without an arm. Relax. There is no-one here," I say. We hear what sounds like glass moving. "F*ck f*ck f*ck," I hear camera man. I flash my light and jump when I think I see a figure inside of a room. "It's a lamp," I say, feeling relieved. "Rae, the chat wants you to go into the room to your left alone," Camera man tells me. "No," Cori shouts. "Someone sent you 100 bucks to go into that room, turn the flash on your camera on and take a bunch of pictures. They want to see if you catch anything," Camera man tells me. Why do I even do this to myself? What am I searching for by agreeing to this? "No, I don't want us to separate. Please! This is how we all end up d3ad," Cori pouts. "Hey, we have to do it for the stream," I say. I flash the light and see nothing but hospital beds and empty cabinets with papers thrown all over the place. I take a deep breath. I step inside, and I turn around to give my friends a thumbs up, but the door slams shut. "Rae," I hear shouting and banging from the other side. F*ck my life.
