A few days later, on Wednesday evening, Elsie crept out of Finn’s bedroom and put a finger to her mouth. “Let’s go to the living room,” she whispered. She’d finally gotten him down for the night. “Tea or wine?” Elsie began to put away the dishes. “Tea, thanks.” I sat at their new table and looked around the kitchen. “So, how have you been?” I hadn’t seen my sister in a while. I missed when she lived upstairs from me. I missed how simple my life had been back then.
