Rose POV
After cleaning up, we all piled into two cars and off we went to Navy Pier. I was relieved when Carl and Debbie chose to ride with Dexter and Darren instead rather than with Jace, Baron, and me. For all I knew, Debbie had already formulated a thousand questions for the two of us. I should be ready for the time when she would corner me and ask those questions.
“How was it?” Jace asked on the way to the theme park.
“What?” It was silent in the car with only the stereo on at a low volume.
“The brunch with my family already knowing about us.” He took my hand as we stopped at a traffic light.
