Two words and I’m over the moon.
Jean only told me two words. Happy and birthday. But that was enough to make up for all the lost years. For all the years that we spent apart. For all the years that I have wished to be with her. For all the years that I have spent in loneliness, darkness, and solitude.
I was happy. f**k, I was the happiest I have been for four years.
And that was just a greeting—a simple greeting. I can only imagine if it was more.
Jean just makes it feel so simple because she is the only one who can do this to me. She’s the only one who can easily trigger all my emotions.
“Are you okay, Sir?” Neon asked the next day when I went back to the office.
