Luna Brenna was right. If those women hadn't stepped forward, we would have been killed. It had been brilliant for Melina to tell me to kill the engine. One propeller was toast, but if the other one had hit the ground, it could have killed anyone in its path. I had heard about the vampire team before. But I had never met any of them before today. Hearing about their gifts and seeing them using those gifts to save your life are two very different things. We usually don’t get shot at on our jobs, so this was a first.
