(Alexander) The morning came faster than I wanted it to. I didn’t move at first. I just lay there with Selene still wrapped up in my arms, her breath warm against my chest. It was too early to leave, but duty never cared about comfort. I brushed my lips against her forehead and slowly untangled myself from her. She didn’t stir much, just turned over and mumbled something into the pillow. I smiled to myself, pulling the blanket higher over her shoulder before I got up. I got dressed without making too much noise, grabbed my bag, and headed out. The packed house was quiet. Outside, the sun was up, but the air was still a little cold.
