Liam set his cup in the sink and then turned the kitchen lights off. He stepped into the darkly lit living room and went to the window to check the empty street. It was close to eleven in the evening and he should have been in bed by now. He’d had a long day of running around, doing errands, and later, helping his mother with closing up her garden. Then at four, he’d had that disastrous job interview at the Home Depot. Liam had quickly understood he wouldn’t be able to transition into retail renovation. The salary was ridiculous and the man who’d interviewed him hadn’t been able to hide his shock at seeing Liam’s impressive resume. It was obvious the man couldn’t hire him.
