Chapter 7-3

882 Words

As she walked through the noisy site, on her way to the trailer office, one of the guys hollered something obscene at her, but quite original. Netty kept her eyes cool, her chin up, and her bosom out. “So, you’re back, Hernandez,” another guy snickered. “So soon?” It was Dave. Netty remembered holding Dave’s head in her lap while he whined about his ex-girlfriend’s s****l indiscretions. He liked to pretend he didn’t remember that Friday evening last May, when they’d gone out for drinks, but she knew he lied. They all lied. It was a side effect of having a p***s. “I never left,” she returned swiftly without slowing her pace. She found Ted waiting for her in the office. It looked like a hurricane had dropped on Ted’s face. “Netty,” he said, right away and without bothering with hello.
