The storm lashed harder as we rode through the night, rain hammering against my armor until it felt like I carried chains of stone. My black horse thundered over the soaked earth, and behind me, thousands followed. Wolves, men, soldiers, all wrapped in dark magic that shielded us from fairy enchantments. The air reeked of sweat, bloodlust, and iron.
Beside me, Lola darted forward on her steed, armor clinging to her body like a second skin. Even in the chaos, even armored, she was beautiful—deadly and untouchable.
