“Are you ready?” I asked Eva as I drove us home. She was in the backseat, staring out of the window, but the sway of her legs indicated her excitement. She looked up, and our eyes met in the review mirror.
“I can’t wait to see my room!” Eva replied, and I smiled as I turned my attention back to the road. After weeks of renovation, it was finally done. Of course, we had watched our home be transformed, but Lyle had finally finished all of the little details. I couldn’t wait to see it. I couldn’t wait to see Eva’s reaction. When I pulled into our driveway, I spotted Lyle’s car parked across the street. The big bin thing was gone, and the front yard looked incredible. The landscapers had also finished their job, and the outside looked amazing.
