CHAPTER TEN
LAMON’S POV
I’ve always been in control of my emotions. Nothing had ever gotten to me that I couldn’t handle. Well, until now. No matter how hard I tried to keep the anger from consuming me, I couldn’t stop it.
One punch.
Two punches.
Three punches.
Why was his face still painted in my head? Those lips, those f*****g lips. f**k! I know a good kisser when I kiss one and Anurak, had to take the crown. And I hated it. He shouldn’t be able to make me think of him as a great kisser. No, he shouldn’t have kissed me at all. I’d known from that first moment I saw him, that he was trouble and I was more than right.
I heard the characteristic double knock from on the door to my gym. I stopped, hitting the punching bag, grabbing a water bottle right after asking Flex to come in. Gym time was my personal time. No guards. Just me. Flex knew that. So whatever it was that had him disrupting my schedule, had to be something very important.
“Did someone finally kill Kittisak?” I questioned, taking a huge sip of water before setting the bottle down on the bench then grabbed a hand towel, dubbing off the sweat dripping down my forehead.
“No,” He paused, an uneasy look dancing on his face and I decidedly didn’t like it.
“What is it? Spill,” I demanded.
“The shipment arrived today but um…some of it is missing. I think Kittisak’s men may have intercepted it,” he said, shifting awkwardly in his feet.
“A missing shipment?” I echoed his words. Someone was going to have to die today. No one had ever succeeded in double-crossing me and those who dared, well, they were either dead or…just dead. Call me ruthless but a man of my position was not exactly that enthusiastic about saving lives of traitors.
“A quarter of what we got from Columbia. Sanchez obviously doesn’t claim responsibility. I cross-checked and he is clean. He didn’t do us any dirty. The only other possible suspect would have to be-“
“Kittisak. Yeah, I got that part,” I said. Except I was too cautious to believe that. It could be someone from my gang.
“I sent someone undercover. He is new. They wouldn’t know,” He almost seemed proud of himself. It was quite a good move, very much risky but I was a little impressed.
“Who was in charge of the shipment?” I asked, now heading out of the gym with Flex on my heels.
“Jay. He is the one who first discovered the missing shipment. I confirmed it and yes, I did cross-examine him myself. He has nothing to do with this,” He added, perhaps reading my mind already.
“I’m just going to have a word with him,” I said, walking into my bedroom but not before I stopped to look at him, “Have him sent to my office at the club in an hour. We are going to have a nice little chat, perhaps grab dinner together if I’m feeling generous enough and oh, do me a favor and keep an eye on his expectant wife. We wouldn’t want anything happening to them now, would we?”
“Lamon,” Flex called, this time dropping his right-hand man attitude, his face hardening, “Jay is loyal. He has been from day one. He knows exactly the kind of man you are and that you know where exactly his wife is. Do you think he would be stupid enough to do anything that could harm him, his wife or unborn baby?”
“Expectant wife. Knocked the nail right on the head with that one. Someone may have held it over his head, coerced them into doing that for them. Or perhaps he could want it for himself. Humans are naturally greedy. Someone just know how to suppress it. Either way, I’m not taking any chances. So he better be innocent,” I slammed the door shut, walking straight into the shower while leaving the clothes I’d been wearing a mess on the floor.
The cold water was exactly what I needed. What was unwelcomed however, was the punishing image of Anurak’s soft, luscious lips planted on mine. He was annoying as hell even when he wasn’t around. I had just stepped out of the shower when I found Tawan sitting on the edge of the bed, a naughty smile dancing on his lips.
“I knew I would find you exactly how I pictured. Naked, dripping,” his words were dripping with seduction as his gaze slowly filled with lust as it ran lustfully over my body. I loved how he looked at me. How he wanted me. The power it fueled within me was thrilling. Being in control was all I cared about.
I leaned down till our faces were inches apart and he had that look of vulnerability mixed with anticipation in his eyes. I loved it. No, I loved how it made me feel. Knowing I had the power, the upper hand, was the ultimate turn on for me.
“Are you going to kiss me or what?” He asked, his voice small and husky.
“How about you come over at the club, say in two hours?” I said, running my thumb over his soft lower lip and he shuddered from the contact.
“How about dinner? We could go to that new Chinese restaurant,” he said and immediately I straightened up, turning my back on him as I headed to the walk-in closet with him hot on my heels.
“I don’t do dates. You know that,” I reminded him, grabbing a white dress shirt before turning to the blazer section.
“And why not? Not once have you given me an enough reason as to why we can’t go out for dinner or lunch like normal couples do,” his tone was a bit sharper.
I turned around, looking right into his eyes, “Normal couple. We are not even a couple, Tawan. I don’t know how clearer that could be,”
I saw the familiar look in his eyes. First it was pain but it was quickly overshadowed by resentment before finally settling into bitterness. He chuckled, shaking his head before whispering in a very acrimonious tone, “Screw you, Lamon,”
He walked out, banging the door rather hard after his exit.
