No. Mom is not gone.
We were in the car, going back to the apartment from the police station. I had to calm down Lexi after the interrogation. She was trying hard to be strong, but I knew the pregnancy hormones took over. She wanted to comfort me, but she was also worried about herself. I felt her fears as I held her hands. Lexi was slightly trembling, and her eyes were filled with worry.
Lexi’s eyes were closed, but not actually sleeping. I held her hand as I knew it would make her (calm). Focusing on the road, I had to push Mom back to the back of my mind.
When we got inside the apartment, I took Lexi first to our bedroom. I assisted her with changing her clothes and I had her lie down on the bed to rest. We missed lunch, so I had to get something done for her. I wanted to
