*One Year Later* I admire a blonde haired boy climbing over a fragment of broken foundation. He leans over, taking the small hand of the small green eyed toddler with a mess of brown curly hair, pulling her up from the long grass. She grabs his arm with full trust and abandonment. Together they walk amongst the rubble of a once great land, not yet able to comprehend the lives that were lived there many years before. These children will one day learn the story of their ancestors, but until then they live with the blissful ignorance that is childhood. Placing a hand on my swollen belly, I feel the movement from within. This child will also one day learn but not for much more time than his siblings.
