.........................A few hours later in Little Cambodia, located in the Bronx, New York.
Alpha Graham, Beta Carter, Luna Aquaria, Alpha Lance, Luna Nafessa, Rio and Alpha Stormy walked into the "Drunken Noodle". They were quickly ushered into the kitchen by Bo Chow. They saw Grace silently cooking and observing. They were quickly introduced to two little asian girls, Lisa and Li Jun Li. Stormy noticed that the one called Li Jun Li was mixed race and had very striking eyes as well as the fact she wasn't human. Also, Stormy noticed in that brief encounter that her smell was off.
Meanwhile, the two cute little asian girls played quietly with Legos on the floor nearby in the kitchen area. Rio and Stormy both felt a strange pull towards the little Blasian girl wearing all red as they walked out of the kitchen and into a secret back room.
"Thank you, Bo! I can take it from here! Remember no one else should be allowed in this room till we exit." advised Lady Gabby in a firm tone.
"As you wish!" replied Bo. Stormy did a quick round of introductions.
"Thank you for coming, Stormy Paris Beckington. We have alot to discuss. Let's get started. This is a dear friend who practices white magic, Aadyn Encalarde. She is a part of the LeBlanc coven based in New Orleans. I know you are aware of the bad blood in general between witches and werewolves. They have been at odds for years. Aadyn and I go way back. Therefore, when she contacted me to help her friends, I didn't hesitate." informed Lady Gabby, in a very dignified tone, pointing at a gorgeous Creole-looking woman already sitting at the table.
Then, Lady Gabby remained standing while everyone else took a seat at the table.
"This is Helen Hu and Alex Hu. They had a daughter named Rebecca, and she died giving birth some years back. She left behind a lovely daughter named Li Jun Li. This is their eldest son, Yao. They are from the Babaylan coven originally based in the Philippines. Their daughter Rebecca was engaged to marry a man by the name of Kenneth Yu who was an Albularyo. Before, she was violently raped by a powerful werewolf in what could only be described as a savage rut. Rebecca refused to terminate the pregnancy and was kicked out of her beloved coven. Her parents left with her to assist her during the difficult pregnancy. They were not exiled, only Rebecca." revealed Lady Gabby as she pointed to each person as she explained the situation to everyone.
"Excuse me! Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but what is an Albularyo?" asked Stormy, looking closely at the elderly Asian couple sitting directly in front of her.
"No! No! There is no shame in asking a question. The shame is in not asking and sitting around pretending to understand when you don't. Albularyo is a modern term for a folk healer or medicine man who uses herbs and medicinal plants to treat illnesses." stated Alex Hu in a warm fatherly tone, but you could still tell he had more years behind him than in front of him.
"Since their daughter's death, they have been struggling to care for Li Jun. Li Jun is unfortunately considered an abomination. Many believe she shouldn't be allowed to live as a hybrid. She will be quite powerful in the future. Many will seek to capture and capitalize off her power or just take it for themselves. Her grandparents were hoping that she would show no signs of her werewolf lineage or that it would be very weak. However, that isn't the case. Her wolf side is very strong, as is her witch side. Her witch powers are tied to her emotions. Therefore, she can't control it sometimes at her tender age." continued Aadyn Encalarde with a fittingly solemn demeanor.
Stormy, Nafessa and Aquaria, as well as Rio shared a look, wondering where this was all leading.
"They are afraid they can no longer protect her. Besides, they are getting old. They want her to be able to embrace her werewolf side without shame. They don't want her to grow up being ostracized and belittled for how she came into this world. They want you to take her. Yao doesn't want the responsibility and wants to go back to their coven. They want to spend what remaining time they have left in the warm embrace of their coven. While Aadyn Encalarde is willing to teach her how to control and use her powers for good. Aadyn Encalarde is unwilling to leave her coven to care for the little girl." added Lady Gabby as everyone placed their orders with Grace Chow.
"Wow! I sympathize with their situation. They are in a tough spot to be in for grandparents. Forgive me if I am missing something. Why me? Why come to me? Is there a specific person out to get Li Jun? How old is she, anyway?" questioned Stormy, looking closely at their son, Yao. Yao didn't seem like he cared for wolves and didn't want to be there at all.
"All good questions." responded Helen Hu softly.
"Very good indeed." noted Alex Hu, gesturing to their son Yao to explain.
"Li Jun Li is four years old. Kenneth Yu is now practicing the form of black magic practiced in Cambodia, known as khmer black magic. It's a syneretic system combining animism, Hindu Tantrism and Brahmanic beliefs. It is practiced by sorcerers known as Kru. Its rituals are used to inflict harm on enemies, control others' actions or gain powers. This differs from white magic, which is used for healing and protection. Kenneth Yu wants to kill her, but not before harnessing her power for himself. We have been moving, trying to stay one step ahead of him and his followers." conveyed Yao in a somber tone.
"So this Kenneth Yu person went from a kind plant-growing healer to a stone-cold-obsessed stalker hell-bent on what he considers revenge on an innocent pup. Wow, it sounds like my life, a little. Is she aware that she is in danger?" probed Stormy as she poured herself a glass of water.
"No! We have been able to shield her so far, but she is a smart kid. We have made a game out of moving so much." confessed Helen Hu, and you could tell she was honestly worried about what the future held for her only grandchild.
"I see. But that still doesn't explain why me?" demanded Stormy, looking directly at the grandmother who had taken her hand and was stroking it softly.
"Because she is your half-sister." whispered Helen Hu.
