Chapter 7 - Brawl On The Front Lawn.

Nicole's P.O.V.
My heart was pounding so hard and fast that I honestly thought it was gonna burst through the walls of my chest any second now, that's how hard it was beating thanks to the phone call I had just received from Sidney.
I was in a state of shock, disbelief and anger and I couldn't believe that not only Cameron but also that b***h Lily had the freaking balls to come to my home and try to see Lola when they've never bothered with either of us before.
I mean, Cameron has never loved or wanted me and he's always made that perfectly clear to me on numerous different occasions, not to mention, he's also made it crystal clear that Lola is so low on the totem pole of importance to him compared to his precious Lily, so why now?.
Why is he doing all of this now? but more importantly, why is Lily bothering now? I don't get it.
Lily doesn't care about me or Lola, she's not interested in having any kind of a relationship with either of us and she certainly doesn't see us as her family which is fine by me because I feel the same way, so what's her reason for doing this?.
Do they both get some kind of weird kick out of making our lives miserable?.
Anyway, I pulled into my street and my eyes immediately widened when I arrived at my house and I saw Cameron and Zoey yelling at each other on my front lawn while my estranged sister stood there crying and holding her face.
Oh god.
Please don't tell me Zoey's hit Lily.
Don't get me wrong, Lily deserves it if she has but Zoey doesn't deserve a criminal record or to go to jail because of someone like her.
I pulled into my driveway and the rumble of my car's engine immediately caught the attention of everyone on my lawn, more specifically my ex who had briskly approached my vehicle and was now standing next to my door before I could even open the damn thing.
God, he's such a prick.
"What the hell is going on here?"
I asked as soon as I had stepped out of my car.
At first, Cameron seemed to be in a state of shock and confusion as he looked me up and down which confused me as well because I didn't know why he was looking at me like this and to be honest with you, I don't think he did either.
Anyway, Cameron looked like he was lost for words as he continued to look me up and down in a creepy way, if you ask me, until he eventually snapped himself out of whatever trance he was in and aggressively pointed his finger at Zoey who had cut him off before he could start ranting and raving at me.
"You wanna know what's going on, Nicki? well, this asshat and his w***e thought that they could just show up here out of the blue and see Lola like she's some kind of monkey at the zoo"
"Lily isn't a w***e, Zoey"
Cameron says through gritted teeth causing his sister to roll her eyes.
"Of course she's not just like you're not a useless, pathetic prick, oh no wait, yeah you are"
Oh my god.
I groaned whilst rubbing my forehead as Cameron looked like he was about to lose his s**t with Zoey but instead he focused his anger on me.
Nothing new there then.
"I don't want her looking after our daughter anymore, Nicki, she's a bad influence on Lola and is totally incompetent to look after her"
"Pfft, I'm incompetent? says the absentee father"
Zoey says with a scoff.
"In fact, I'm more of a dad to Lola than you ever have or will be, asshole"
"That's not fair, Zoey, Cameron's got his reasons for not being there for his daughter"
Lily said and it was my turn to scoff this time.
Yeah, YOU!!.
You're the sole reason why he's not been there for her, Lily.
I thought to myself whilst rolling my eyes.
"Do you want another slap, hoe?...no, then pipe down and do something you're not used to which is keeping your mouth shut, the adults are talking here"
"DON'T YOU DARE..."
Cameron growled at his sister but I cut him off before he could finish whatever it was that he was gonna say because I just knew that it wasn't gonna be good since he was defending his beloved Lily and I didn't want either of these two siblings to say or do something which could potentially ruin their relationship forever.
"Ok, that's enough"
I say as I step in between the warring siblings who were glaring at each other.
"First of all, Zoey, chill out, ok?"
I tell her and she once again rolls her eyes as she huffs while crossing her arms over her chest.
God, she's such a child.
I thought to myself with a smile before changing it to a glare.
"And secondly, you"
I say whilst facing my ex.
"You can't just show up to my house with your girlfriend and demand to see my kid, it doesn't work like that"
"She's our kid, Nicole, not just yours"
Pfft, could've fooled me.
I thought to myself with a scoff.
"Donating your sperm one night doesn't make you a father, Cameron...it takes more than just adding your biological batter into the oven to be a dad, actually being there for the child is what gives you that title, you freaking moron"
Zoey says sounding snarky as I groaned under my breath.
Jesus Christ, this girl needs her mouth cleaned out with some strong ass bleach.
I thought to myself as I looked up at Cameron who looked hurt by his sister's words and I swear I saw guilt flash in his eyes as well as he looked at her.
"What are you doing here, Cameron?"
I ask him as he narrows his eyes at me.
"Like I told my sister, I'm here to see our daughter"
"Oh, really?"
I ask with annoyance in my tone.
"And why would you wanna see her now, huh? what's changed?"
"What do you mean?"
Cameron asked looking confused.
"You know exactly what I mean, Cameron"
I say feeling annoyed.
"Don't you remember last night? when you called me and told me that the reason why you abandoned and neglected Lola was because Lily had blackmailed you and told you to never have a relationship with your daughter if you ever wanted her forgiveness and to rekindle your relationship with her and now you're here wanting to see Lola...are you trying to f**k with our heads?"
Ok.
Maybe blackmail is a bit of a stretch but I don't care because Lily's face when I said it was a f*****g picture.
She looked so hurt and betrayed which I'm not ashamed to say amused me just a little.
"Wait, what? you're the reason why he hasn't been a dad to Lola?"
Zoey growled from behind me.
"You don't understand, Zoe, I...."
"Oh hell no, come here you little b***h, I'm gonna rearrange your face like a goddamn Picasso"
Zoey once again growled as she attempted to kill my sister but I managed to stop her before she could.
"Zoey, calm down, please"
I pleaded with my best friend who didn't look like she was gonna calm down any time soon but she eventually did which I was grateful for as I turned to glare at my ex.
"Get the hell out of here, Cameron and take your little lapdog with you before I set both of my rottweilers onto you two"
I say and Lily flinched before composing herself.
"You can't do this, Nicole, Cammy's got every right to see his daughter"
Cammy?.
Yuck, I think I just threw up in my mouth.
I thought to myself as I looked at my sister like what the f**k? and I wasn't the only one who was disturbed by this either.
Zoey also looked like she was about to throw up and Cameron was visibly cringing at the tacky nickname his beloved Lily had just given him.
"I can do whatever the hell I want to when it comes to the welfare of my child and making sure she's safe, happy and content, Lily...I mean hell, I've already made it clear to both the Parkers and the Wrights that you specifically aren't welcome anywhere near Lola because I don't trust your ass, yet here you are because Cameron has brought you here, a man who doesn't even remember his own kid's birthday thanks to you"
"You can't blame Lily for this, Nicole, it was my decision to not be in Lola's life, not hers"
Cameron said pissing me off even further.
"You're right, Cameron, it wasn't her decision, it was yours which makes this even worse in my opinion because Lily just gave you an ultimatum and instead of doing what any decent father would do, regardless of his feelings for his child's mother, you did the complete opposite of what you should have done and instead of choosing your child, your biological baby who shares the same DNA as you, you choose her"
I said whilst pointing at Lily who was trying to glare at me but I've seen more intimidating glares on a kitten.
I then stepped closer to my ex which startled both Cameron and Lily but it was for two totally different reasons.
Lily was clearly jealous that I was this close to her beloved man yet again which is honestly just gross if you ask me, whereas Cameron looked like he was unsettled but he didn't look like how he normally looks when he feels this way which is weird if you ask me.
"You can hate me all you want, Cameron because I honestly don't care how you feel about me anymore but I do care when it comes to Lola and how you make her feel and I refuse to let either of you mess with that little girls head or her life, now get the hell off my property before I call the police and have you both arrested"
I say and Cameron glares at me.
"This isn't over, Nicole"
"If you say so, asshole"
I growl at Cameron who gives both Zoey and me one last glare before getting in his car with Lily and driving off.
"Are you ok, Nicki?"
Zoey asks as she gives my shoulder a gentle squeeze to comfort me.
"I will be, Zoe"
I say whilst letting out a sigh.
If Cameron thinks that he's got me worried or feeling panicked and scared by his pathetic little threat, then he'd better think again because I'm not feeling any of these emotions.
It also clearly shows how little he knows me because like with every other mother out there, I'm willing to do anything and everything to protect my child from anyone who wants to cause her harm and that includes protecting her from the one person she shouldn't need protecting from and that person is her own father.
How pathetic is that, hmm?.
