I don’t know how long I sat shivering in that cell after the last time Bram left. I tried standing a few times, but my legs still weren’t strong enough, so I went to sleep. I slipped in and out of consciousness until I saw him moving through the woods.
“Casper?” I say out loud as I open my eyes. I feel stronger than I have for days as I get to my feet.
‘It’s almost time,’ Leto says, and I watch as an apple manifest before my eyes. ‘Eat it.’
“Is it midnight?” I ask as I grab the apple and take a bite.
‘No,’ Leto responds. ‘But they are close.’
‘They?’ I ask, ‘Caspar and Kael?’ I ask but Leto doesn’t respond. I pull my legs to my chest and close my eyes. I drift off a little and see him in the woods looking right at me. I so want to run to him and have him take me into his arms
