Marsai: There was this strange longing I saw in Dessie’s eyes. It was one that sent my mind spiraling with several thoughts. Was it what I thought it was? No. It couldn’t be... right? Right? Quickly, I stepped forward and grabbed Dessie’s hands, snapping her out of whatever trance she’d fallen into. She jerked slightly, blinking as if realizing where she was. Sadie, on the other hand, was staring at Dessie like she couldn’t quite figure her out. It was weird. Then, to my surprise, Sadie turned to me instead. “Hi, Marsai. A-are you okay?” A lump formed in my throat. Of course, I was okay. The question should’ve been directed at Dessie, not me! I gave a slight nod. Then, I bent down, picked up my bag, and pulled Dessie closer to me. “We’re fine, Sadie. Thank you!” I said with a smile
