Chapter 27“And he ends it with I love you…” Henley carefully folded Mason’s precious letter and inserted into the envelope he’d found in Uncle Ted’s box of secret missives. “That feeling, Uncle Ted,” he said, leaning closer to his great-uncle’s bed, “that feeling hasn’t left me since I first read Mason’s words two weeks ago.” He smiled, squeezing Ted’s limp hand on the sheet. “I’ve been riding this wave of elation since then. I mean, I hardly need to eat or sleep. I’m like a superhero or something. Ciccio thinks I’m crazy.” Henley laughed softly, but then seeing that his words did nothing to stir Ted awake, the smile on his face vanished and he drew back in his chair, gazing down at the open box on his lap.
