Chapter 28After Henley had dropped a pinch of salt into the water in the pot, he lit up the gas burner with a match. Outside, the wind howled through the trees, but he didn’t mind the eerie sound anymore. He’d gotten used to it in the last weeks. The wind had its moods. It sometimes sang to him in the afternoon. Other times, like tonight, it was lonely and bitter, wanting his attention. Henley turned the heat down on the carbonara sauce simmering gently in the pan.
