Clarissa’s mom and Sebastian ceased their accusations and nasty words at the sight of Hunter, looking disgruntled. Hell, the ghost of a grimace settled over Sebastian’s face – the guy I had foolishly thought I loved not too long ago.
Recalling my stupid crush on this boy, I almost felt disgusted with myself... but then again, he was but an experience, an experience that taught me to not go ahead of myself, just because of a few smiles.
As Hunter came to stand behind me, I felt empowered, emboldened, and different shades of supported. I straightened up ever so slightly, staring up at the guy I had once pined after. I might not be invincible. Hell, I was even wolfless. But right then, my lack of a wolf didn’t matter. My shortcomings didn’t matter either.
