Chapter 3: Weakling

1338 Words
Meanwhile, at the royal academy. Joshua watches Erick destroy the room for the thousandth time this year. As the future Beta, it's up to him to try to calm his best friend and royal Alpha, but it's getting increasingly difficult. In the past year, in some inexplicable way, Erick established an emotional bond with his mate, even though he has never met her in person, but the real problem is that the girl, whoever she is, is suffering severe abuse, starving, being beaten, and has very low self-esteem, and Erick has started to feel what she feels. At first, he moved heaven and earth to find her, but after failing, he tried to sever the bond, but nothing worked. Now he seems like a ticking time bomb, ready to blow up at any moment. Right now, he's destroying the room because, according to him, she's so scared she can barely breathe. But what really worries Joshua is that Erick has started to harbor anger towards his mate because he thinks she does nothing to help herself or else someone would have stepped in to help her, and thus she's condemning not only herself to suffering but dragging him along with her. “She's a weakling, Joshua, that's what she is.” “Man, she might be trapped somewhere.” This seems to calm him a little, not because he wishes her harm, but because it would explain why she doesn't react, ask for help, or simply run away. Joshua's phone rings, and when he sees the number on the screen, he gets worried because his sister never calls him; it's always him who calls. “Hello,” Erick watches his Beta talk on the phone and realizes something is very wrong. As soon as he finishes the call, he asks: “Did something happen to your sister?” “It did,” says Joshua, running his fingers through his hair and thinking that no matter how or what he would have to do, he would protect his little sister, “someone put her name in the lottery, and she's on her way here.” “And why is that a problem?” “Something's wrong with my sister, man, she never transformed, she doesn't even have access to the healing powers that a normal omega has.” Erick begins to understand his friend's concern, the royal academy was no child's play, people died there during training, a normal omega wouldn't stand a chance, let alone one without any powers. “And who put her name in?” “My uncle suspects it's someone who doesn't want her to take over the pack, since now that I'm not going back, by right, she would be the Luna of the pack, or her mate would take over. To try to kill her, they put her name in the draw and made sure she was chosen.” “The person who did this will face the consequences, I promise, but maybe it's better for her to get out of there. After all, they might decide to simply kill her, and being there alone, she wouldn't stand a chance. Here, I can protect her.” “Please, man, stay away from my sister. Don't take it the wrong way, but you hate people who are weak and innocent, and my sister is both. She's so pure that sometimes she seems like she's from another world.” “Hey, relax. When I said I would protect her, I meant I would help you keep her alive, not that I would make her one of my girls,” that's what he called the girls he dated. “Thanks, man,” says Joshua, “she must be scared.” “How does a wolf like you have a human for a sister?” “I don't think she's human, just that something prevented her transformation. My wolf has sensed a presence in her, but it's blocked.” “I've never heard of cases like this, but if she has a wolf, Kairon will sense it, and maybe Tron can reach her.” Normally, a werewolf is two beings that complete each other, a person and a beast that inhabit a body, but in Erick's case, he was born with two beasts, a Lycan and a wolf, Kairon and Tron. Suddenly, Erick is overwhelmed by another wave of fear and nervousness, which he knows isn't his own. He takes a deep breath and tries not to let anger take over him. Until a year ago, he didn't feel anything from his mate, but over the past year, it was as if her life had turned into hell, causing her emotions to spiral out of control and reach him. At first, he tried to find her, but it was like searching for a needle in a haystack. Then he reinforced surveillance in all the packs to prevent mistreatment or crimes against wolves, but nothing worked. Finally, he tried to sever the bond, but how do you reject someone you've never met? Kairon and Tron were becoming increasingly anxious about the situation, as it was frustrating to have so much power yet be unable to protect their own mate. Now Erick was determined to sever the bond as soon as he set eyes on her. But deep down, he always wonders, “Where are you, little one?” Erick was aware that he couldn't delay much longer in taking over the kingdom. Even more so with the rumors that Hercules was alive, a century ago, a hybrid son of a vampire and a she-wolf, he became obsessed with power, and in his quest, he found ancient manuscripts containing our history and a prophecy about becoming the son of darkness. He followed the ritual step by step; it is not well known what this ritual involved because the manuscripts were lost, but it is known that he did terrible things, and it worked. The earth entered an era of terror, and even humans began to be affected. It was then that the races united, vampires and werewolves against Hercules and his followers. Hercules was defeated and fled in search of the last item that would make him invincible, the blood of the Luna of Lunas. This led to the extinction of a powerful race of wolves, for the Luna of Lunas could only be a Daughter of the Moon, wolves as white as snow, blessed with gifts from the goddess. But with the relentless hunt by Hercules and his followers, they were wiped out, and only traces remained to show that certain wolves had Daughters of the Moon in their ancestry, as was the case with Joshua with the spot on his eyes and white tail. When this story was beginning to be forgotten, an old wise woman, known for her gift of foresight, predicted a new war, which would either be the definitive end of Hercules or of the earth as we know it. Erick didn't even believe in this fanciful story, but the old woman predicted that there would be a union, a predestined bond of the Luna of Lunas and a beast that, unlike all others, would house three entities instead of two, who, if united with the Daughter of the Moon, would destroy Hercules forever. However, if Hercules united with her first, it would be eternal chaos. It so happened that a hundred years after she made this prediction, Erick was born, and his body houses three entities instead of two, unlike others, which gave strength and credibility to the prophecy. And now there were rumors that Hercules was moving and had found traces of the Daughter of the Moon. Whether it was true or not, Erick didn't know, but if he was moving, he also needed to. But one thing he was sure of was that his mate was not the Luna of Lunas; she was weak. Perhaps the prophecy's bond referred to a connection similar to that between a Beta and his Alpha.
