Eduarda didn't sleep all night. Her uncle told her to take only what was necessary, as he and her brother had arranged the rest for her.
Now she is on a train with her uncle and the other three chosen companions.
Gaby keeps giving her worried looks, but he hides it every time Eduarda looks at him. This makes her feel a little better; it would be really wonderful if Gaby were her companion.
Looking out the window at the rapidly passing landscape, Eduarda falls into a deep sleep.
She is no longer on the train but in a beautiful and magical forest. Right in front of her, she hears an animal moaning and goes to see what it is.
In a clearing, a large white wolf, with a kind of tattoo on its face, eyes as deep as the ocean, and an iris black as pitch, she was so beautiful that Eduarda felt like touching her, but as she got closer, she saw that the wolf was chained by enormous chains that were hurting her.
Eduarda runs to the wolf and tries to free her, and that's when she hears a voice:
"Sad, isn't it?" Eduarda turns around, and there is a woman with hair as white as the wolf's fur.
"Who are you?" Eduarda asks.
"Me?" the woman says, smiling. "You could say I'm your friend," she says, approaching and stroking the wolf, who falls into a peaceful sleep.
"She is one of my most beautiful and powerful creations," she says, looking at Eduarda.
"Then why do you keep her chained?" Eduarda asks.
"Me?" she says, smiling once more and approaching Eduarda. "Interesting necklace you have."
"It was my mother's."
"Yes, dear, I know, but I doubt your mother knew it would take you so long to take it off."
"I can't take it off, I promised."
"You need to take it off, dear, it's time. Your protector is ready, and your destined one is waiting for you."
Eduarda shakes her head nervously, and that's when she appears, her mother, exactly as Eduarda remembered her.
"Dear, it's okay, you're ready. You need to take off the necklace, save your life and our world, and don't forget not everything that seems like love really is; sometimes true love hurts but is always the best path."
Eduarda lunges to hug her mother, and that's when she's gently shaken by her uncle:
"Dear, are you?"
"It was a dream," Eduarda says more to herself than to her uncle.
"Dear, we're arriving in Port Angeles. Your brother will be at the station, we'll spend the day there, and tomorrow we'll go to Forks."
Eduarda was eager to see her brother again, as it had been a year since they last saw each other.
The royal academy, as well as the residence of the royals, the largest pack in the world from which all others were governed, was located in a gigantic forest between Forks and the Canadian border.
Eduarda looks at her loose clothes and wonders what her brother will think of her.
She gets up to go to the bathroom and is promptly followed by Betany.
As soon as they move away from the cabin where her uncle is, Betany pushes Eduarda, who hits her back on the door handle, reopening one of the last beatings. She feels the blood running down her back and looks scared at Betany, who says:
"If you dare complain about me to Joshua, I'll wait for the first opportunity in training to kill you, understand? Since I'm here, I'll try to win over the monster prince or your i***t brother, and I don't want you in my way, understand?"
Eduarda nods quickly, not wanting to provoke another needless attack.
At that moment, a furious growl echoes behind her, and she quickly turns around to see Gaby with the black eyes of his wolf.
"Dare to lay a hand on her again, and I'll be the one to kill you at the first opportunity," he says furiously to Betany.
Betany, frightened, takes two steps back and says:
"I can't believe it, you like this freak!"
Gaby growls once more, and Betany turns and leaves in a hurry.
Looking at Eduarda, he says:
"In all my lives, my mother never gave me a mission as difficult as you," and he turns, going in the opposite direction of Betany.
Eduarda wonders what he meant by that; she didn't know Gaby's mother, and what was this about a mission!
The train stops at the Port Angeles station and Eduarda hurries to reunite with her brother.
Joshua is watching the passengers disembark from the train, more anxious than usual because he couldn't convince Erick to stay at the academy in Forks, and now he had the prince standing by his side while waiting for his sister.
A bleached blonde, dressed in sexy clothes, gets off the train and runs towards him:
"Joshy, I've missed you," says Betany, throwing herself into Joshua's arms, who hides his displeasure with a cold smile, pushing the blonde away from him.
"Hi, Betany. By the way, welcome to the academy," he says, his anxious gaze returning to the door, waiting for his sister.
"Aren't you going to introduce me?" Betany says, looking Erick up and down.
Now Joshua no longer hides his irritation at the blonde, and Erick watches the scene amused, as it's very rare to see his Beta lose patience, though the blonde is indeed attractive, she's also quite annoying.
"This is Erick, the Crown Prince, and Erick, this is Betany, the daughter of the woman my uncle married," he says, pushing the blonde aside without ceremony to get a better view of the door.
Betany's eyes now light up at Erick, who starts to get irritated, as a pain runs down his back that he knows isn't his.
"Erick," says Betany, extending her hand.
Erick ignores her hand, nods, and looks away, making it clear he's not open to conversation.
"But what happened to her?" That's when Joshua's horrified exclamation draws his attention to the train door.
