Chapter 9: Move her to our dormitory now

1032 Words
Gaby steps away from Eduarda, muttering something Eduarda doesn't understand. Everyone turns to the door, and almost everyone takes a step back upon seeing Erick's furious face and his eyes red as blood. For a while, everyone remains silent, just looking at Erick and Joshua. Joshua doesn't seem very happy either, and it's clear that he and Erick are communicating through their telepathic link. "Move her to our dormitory now," Erick orders Joshua in a tone that brooks no argument. As Draco explained earlier, only the royals had private dormitories. However, Erick, as the future Alpha king, had a pavilion just for himself, which, in addition to the usual dormitory features, also had an office, a dining room, and only three cubicles: his own, one for his Beta Joshua, and one for his Gamma. But since his Gamma had already graduated from the academy, the cubicle was empty. "And why would I do that?" Joshua asks, giving Gaby an angry look. Erick couldn't explain why the fact that Gaby, with the golden curls, was almost kissing Joshua's weakling sister bothered him so much. He only knew he had an irresistible urge to rip Gaby's head off, so he thought of a convincing excuse for Joshua: "I don't know, I was just trying to help. The guy looked like he was going to have your sister for dinner," he says, noting from Joshua's expression that he succeeded. Joshua clears his throat and says: "Hey you, Eduarda, you're going to move to the royal dormitory, we need someone to keep things organized and I chose you," he said this because it wouldn't be convenient for people to find out that Eduarda was his sister. The others who came from the same pack have already been ordered by Erick's alpha tone to keep it a secret. Erick is satisfied, even more so when he sees Gaby's disappointed face and says: "Before you think of tagging along, golden curls, this order is just for the weakling. You stay here," and turning to Eduarda, he says, "don't worry, weakling, someone will take your things to the new dormitory." "Now follow me, all of you," says Joshua. Eduarda doesn't quite know how to feel about the dormitory change. On one hand, she's happy to be closer to her brother, after all, they've been apart for a year, but on the other hand, she's reluctant to leave Gaby behind just as things were developing between them. Eduarda has never been kissed in her life but believes it would be nice if Gaby were the one to give her her first kiss. "Hey, weakling, stop dreaming and move along," says Erick irritably. Eduarda blushes violently, wondering if somehow he could know what she's thinking. They enter a large hall, with a table on a sort of stage, and four other tables below, each of which could easily seat a hundred people. "Each senior group with its secondary group has a table, ours is the first, and so on according to the dormitories," explains Joshua, "the seats at the front of the table are for the group leaders and the strongest or special ones in some way, the seats can change if a person becomes weaker or stronger during the year, the last seats are for you newcomers who haven't done anything to prove your worth yet, at the front table sit the instructors and trainers, now take your seats." Erick gets irritated again when he sees Gaby sitting next to Eduarda. Joshua follows Erick's gaze and also becomes worried, because if Gaby wasn't his sister's mate, it meant that at some point he would find his mate and his sister would suffer greatly, or worse, Eduarda's mate could reject her if he knew she had slept with another guy. Joshua thought this was archaic, but it was very common among wolves. But one thing was also intriguing Joshua, Erick's interest in his sister, and a terrifying idea was forming in his mind: what if Erick was his sister's mate, and for the same reason that her wolf didn't awaken, they didn't recognize each other? After all, a year ago his sister started being mistreated, and a year ago Erick had been feeling his mate's pain. And Erick's reaction when his sister took his hand in the forest—Joshua was prepared to launch himself at Erick to try to stop him from killing Eduarda, but instead, Erick simply left. But Joshua hoped this was just a figment of his imagination, after all, Erick hated his mate, and would despise it even more if he found out it was his sister. At that moment, Jessica enters the room with her group, number three, where Betany and Trevan are. At that moment, Joshua feels a shiver run down his spine and thinks: “By the moon goddess, Eduarda can't be Erick's mate or Jessica will hunt her down,” and he looks again at his sister, who is engaged in a conversation with Gaby and the other newcomers. Jessica observes Erick's table and is pleased to see that the weakling appears interested in the handsome guy beside her. As long as she doesn't show interest in Erick or he in her, Jessica isn't bothered by a plain girl who, from what she's heard, doesn't even have a wolf. The academy director begins a welcome speech for the newcomers, wishing them luck on their journey, reminding them that fights and quarrels are only allowed in the training ring, and that the next morning each newcomer would go through screening to know which subjects, besides the mandatory physical and mental training, they would take. At that moment, Eduarda's eyes lock with Erick's, and it's as if something in his eyes calls her, challenges her to go with him. Gaby, noticing the exchange of glances, lightly touches Eduarda's hand to get her attention. Erick, who was lost in Eduarda's green eyes as if every part of him wanted to explore the forest that was her eyes, almost loses control when he sees Gaby holding her hand. “What on earth is happening to me,” Erick asks himself and only gets silence as a response.
