When they reach the entrance, Joshua says goodbye to Eduarda, telling her that from that point on he couldn't accompany her, as she would be taken to where the newcomers were registered and separated, but that they would see each other at the welcome dinner.
Passing by Betany, he gives her a deadly look and growls quietly in warning and threat.
Pedro also says goodbye to her as soon as they arrive in a room filled with other newcomers from other packs.
Gaby stands protectively next to Eduarda while they wait.
Suddenly a door opens and a man who sends shivers down Gaby's spine enters.
He looks at the newcomers as if he could devour them at any moment and says:
"My name is Dracon, I am responsible for physical training and hand-to-hand combat, both in human form and in your wolf form, which means I will be responsible for the death of at least three or four of you, and today I was assigned to welcome you. Common lycan wolves do not usually give anyone a second chance, be careful," and looking directly at Eduarda, he says, "and if you don't have a wolf, you should never have come here. Now follow me, I will take you to your dormitories."
As they walked, he continued to speak:
“Only the royals have individual rooms, the rest will be divided into groups of six, this group will be your family, if one makes a mistake, everyone will be punished. Each new group is part of a senior group, to whom you must obey,” stopping in front of a door labeled 'Newcomers Dormitory One,' he says six names that Eduarda has never heard in her life, and she begins to pray not to be separated from Gaby.
But a dormitory is assigned, and no one from Eduarda's group was chosen.
Until in dormitory number 3, Betany, Trevan, and Gaby are chosen, as there was no separation between men and women, and Eduarda is taken by two conflicting emotions, fear of being separated from Gaby and relief for not being with Betany and Trevan.
At that moment Erick appears and says:
“Draco, I want the weak one in my group”
“Who?”, asks Draco
“The one without a wolf, I think her name is Eduarda”
“By the Moon, Erick, I don't want any deaths before the first week,” says Draco, half amused and half exasperated.
Erick simply arches his eyebrows and Draco gives in:
“Okay, okay but don't say I didn't warn you later,” he says scratching his beard, “wolf-less, swap with the short one from group one.”
At that moment Gaby says:
“Sir, if possible I want to go with her”
Erick gets irritated with the audacity of the Goldilocks.
Draco, noticing Erick's irritation, decides to add fuel to the fire.
“Very well, would any knight from group one like to swap with this deadbeat here?”
The three boys from group one raised their hands, as no one wanted to stay in the group that would have the monster prince's group as senior.
Draco pointed to one of them and thus, Eduarda and Gaby ended up in dormitory one.
After dividing all the newcomers among the four dormitories, Draco says they are dismissed and that they should stay in their dormitories until a representative from the senior group comes to fetch them for dinner.
Erick smiles diabolically, thinking:
"Alright, I chose the weak one to protect her out of consideration for Joshua, while the golden curls came as a bonus for me to torture."
Meanwhile, on the other side of the courtyard, Jéssica, a cruel and possessive Lycan, watched the scene with interest.
For years she had been in love with Erick, during this period she had already eliminated several rivals for whom he showed more interest than the casual s*x he usually had with the girls, some met a very painful end at Jéssica's hands, others simply fled horrified by her cruelty.
Smiling, she decides to keep an eye on the weak one, as it was the first time Erick personally chose someone for his group.
Although looking from there, she didn't believe he could be interested in that skinny and plain girl, but better safe than sorry.
Already in the dormitory, Eduarda busies herself unpacking the eight huge suitcases that Joshua provided for her.
Thank the Moon, the dormitory was large, with two bathrooms, one for the girls and one for the boys, a common room with a sofa, television, a table, and a desk with a computer. In addition to six cubicles separated by partitions, each with a double bed, two bedside tables, and a large wardrobe.
Eduarda took the cubicle closest to the door, and Gaby took the one next to it.
Eduarda couldn't forget Erick's words; he had called her a wolf-less weakling. Eduarda knew he only chose her because of her brother, making it easier for Joshua to protect her, but she couldn't help thinking he could have done it without offending her. She couldn't explain why it hurt and bothered her so much, especially since she had been called worse things before.
With a sigh, she reminded herself that at least Gaby had done everything to stay with her, and that maybe it meant her love for him was reciprocated.
Whenever she thought about loving Gaby, something inside her stirred, making her feel even more uncomfortable.
She decided to take a shower and change for dinner.
When she finished, everyone was already in the common room introducing themselves.
There was Peter, a shy boy with an athletic build and covered in freckles, Cristina, a slightly overweight girl with a beautiful face and a sincere smile, Helena, a quintessential preppy girl who seemed to think everyone should cater to her whims, Taylor, a handsome boy with a playful nature, and of course, Eduarda and Gaby.
After the introductions, Gaby approached Eduarda and said:
“Hey, at first, don't trust anyone, okay? And try to stay close.”
“Not even trust you?” Eduarda said playfully.
“I would give my life for you, Eduarda,” he said, looking at her with a penetrating gaze.
For a moment, it felt as if they were the only two in the room, and Eduarda almost thought he was about to kiss her when the door opened, and Erick and Joshua appeared.
