CHAPTER THIRTEEN It was close to ten p.m. when Jocelyn arrived home. Yawning, she listened for Luke and heard the shower running. Her stomach rumbled, but she was too exhausted to make anything. As she stood staring dazedly at the inside of the fridge, she didn’t hear Luke approach. When he touched her shoulder, she jumped. “Whoa there,” he said. “What are you doing?” “I don’t know. I’m hungry, but making anything right now is beyond me.” Luke gently pushed her aside. “I’ll make you something.” Jocelyn wanted to protest, but she didn’t have the energy. She sat at the bar and watched Luke collect ingredients. “Grilled cheese?” she guessed as he began to butter some bread. “My specialty.
