(Maya’s POV)
I was updating post-op notes on my latest patient when the door to my office slammed open so hard I nearly dropped my tablet.
David.
His face was flushed, jaw clenched, and eyes wild with something between rage and confusion.
“You filed for divorce?” he asked, voice loud, breath uneven.
I didn’t answer right away. I looked at him, really looked at him. He wasn’t the confident surgeon I had once admired. He was panicked. Desperate.
“Yeah,” I said calmly, going back to typing my notes. “I did.”
He slammed the door shut behind him and took a few steps forward.
