(Maya’s POV)
I sat across from Kinsley in her office, fingers laced tightly in my lap, watching as she signed the last set of documents.
“That’s it,” she said, smiling as she capped her pen. “The divorce petition is officially filed.”
I exhaled.
My shoulders dropped as the weight I had been carrying for weeks began to shift, just a little. I hadn’t even realized I’d been holding my breath.
“It’s done,” I whispered.
Kinsley reached across the desk and squeezed my hand. “It’s going to get easier from here. You’re doing the right thing.”
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. “It just… feels surreal.”
She leaned back, scanning my face. “You okay?”
