(Maya’s POV)
I stood in the doorway, clutching my suitcase, my heart pounding.
Axel’s voice was calm, too calm. “Get in the car, Maya.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” I said. “I’m not leaving Jamie.”
He looked at me, expressionless. “Amber will take care of him. She has already agreed.”
“You talked to her?”
“She understands this is for the best.”
“The best?” I repeated. “You’re forcing me to leave my son for a honeymoon I don’t even want.”
His jaw tightened. “You are my wife. This is not optional.”
I crossed my arms. “I’m not a prisoner.”
He stepped closer. “Then stop acting like one and get in the car.”
I glared at him, my anger bubbling. “You can’t just drag me away every time something doesn’t go your way.”
“Watch me,” he said, and opened the car door
