Celebration (Part 2)
(Maya’s POV)
We spent the next hour watching the movie, cuddled under a blanket Axel had brought.
Eventually, I laid my head against his shoulder and closed my eyes for just a moment, letting the hum of the evening lull me into a peaceful daze. This was the perfect night. Axel had made this night into a dream come true. A dream I would have cherished with David before his betrayal. But here was Axel, he’d only known me a short time, but he understood me better than I did myself.
“Sleepy?” he asked.
“Relaxed,” I whispered.
“I like seeing you like this,” he said. “Free.”
