Celebration (Part 1)
(Maya’s POV)
I wasn’t sure what I expected when Axel said he had a surprise date night planned, but I definitely didn’t expect this feeling excited and nervous at the same time.
It was the first Saturday night I hadn’t spent thinking about David in weeks. The first time in years, actually, that I was preparing for a date with someone who made me feel…alive.
A knock at the door pulled me from the mirror.
I opened it to find Axel leaning casually against the frame, wearing a navy button-down and black pants, his hair tousled perfectly like he hadn’t tried at all. He blinked at me for a second.
“Wow,” he said, his voice low. “You look...beyond beautiful.”
I smiled, warmth spreading through me. “You clean up well yourself.”
