(Maya’s POV)
My phone buzzed as I stirred cream into my coffee, the rich swirl of caramel and caffeine hypnotizing me more than I cared to admit. I picked it up lazily, expecting a work email or a notification from Kinsley. Instead, it was Jessica. Texting multiple times over the last couple of hours.
Jessica: Maya, please don’t ignore me.
It just happened. David and I didn’t plan for this. We fell in love. I never meant to hurt you.
You’re my best friend. I know this is hard, but I truly believe one day you’ll understand and forgive us. I want us to move past this. I want to fix our friendship. We’ve been through so much together.
