THE ANNOYING, yet persistent, buzz of his phone finally roused Ian from his comfortably deep sleep. He was loathe to dislodge Kai, who had curled against his side, but when the phone buzzed itself right off the bedside table onto the floor, he turned over in his sleep and freed Ian's arm. Ian rolled and scooped the phone up before it went to voice mail. It was the pack doctor. "Dr. Madison. I hope someone is bleeding from an artery for you to call at this ungodly hour." "It's ten," she said shortly. Ian sat up in a panic and glanced at the clock on his bedside table. He never slept in. Swinging his legs off the bed, he hurried out of the bedroom and shut the door gently so he wouldn't wake Sidney. "I assume you're calling for a reason?" He tapped the speaker phone so he could start the
