She was sitting in the hospital parking garage when her phone rang, and her mom’s name was on the call display. After her meeting with Artemis who had revealed she’d checked on Torben’s CT scan and things looked decent, she was feeling better but not convinced he would remember her. She answered quickly needing to hear her mom’s reassurances.
“Hey Mom.”
“Where are you?”
“Parking garage of the hospital. Just collecting my thoughts.”
“Why are you not with Doctor Haugen? Jesse, you, and Cat ran off like it was an emergency. What the hell did you get into? It’s always something with the pair of you. Tuva suggested you were running away from the emotional impact of seeing Torben so still. She said she sees it a lot with her oncology patients and their families.”
