What was wrong with me? An even better question to ask, was what the hell had gotten into me, thinking that it would be alright for me to come to her chambers? I must have knocked my head against something before I had gone to sleep. I refused to accept any other explanation from myself for doing this, because I definitely hadn’t thought any of this through. I hadn’t even considered any of the consequences, once. But what was there to do about it now? It was too late to do anything, as a matter of fact, and the only person who I had to blame for it, was myself.
It was too late for me to back out now, because Anoa had seen me. She was staring at me like I was some kind of predatory animal that was about to pounce onto her and devour her.
Perhaps that was what I looked like.
